Biography

Craig has been the Member for Rankin since 1998. Before being elected he ran an economic and environmental consulting business. He is a former head of the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage and the South East Queensland Transit Authority. Craig was a senior policy adviser to Bob Hawke and Wayne Goss. He was also economic adviser to Finance Minister Peter Walsh. Craig has a PhD in economics and has worked as an economist at the United Nations in Bangkok.

Craig is the Minister for Small Business, Independent Contractors and the Service Economy, and the Minister Assisting the Finance Minister on Deregulation.

Name Derivation: Named after Dame Annabelle Rankin 1908-86, first Queensland woman elected to the Senate 1946-71 and the first Australian woman to hold a top-level diplomatic post as High Commissioner to New Zealand 1971-74.
